What’s Happening with…The Strokes

So I was wondering what The Strokes were up to these days (or not up to, as the case may be), and I discovered that they are planning to reconvene in the studio this month, so perhaps there will be a new album by the end of the year.

After announcing a “hiatus” in late 2006, the band members started working on personal projects. Albert Hammond, Jr went out on his own and ended up touring Europe with Coldplay. He’s also been working the scene and gracing the pages of Vogue with model girlfriend Agyness Deyn. Drummer Fabrizio Moretti joined up with two friends to form Little Joy. They’ve been touring and they released an album in November. Nikolai Fraiture started his side project Nickel Eye and released an album as well. All three projects sound slightly Strokes-y.

So I guess now that they’ve gotten a chance to explore life outside Strokesville, they will be ready to join forces again. I’m looking forward to it. So stay tuned.

I must note that The Strokes have the snazziest band web site I’ve ever seen. Just click on “The Band” tab and you will see what I mean. I’m surprised these guys don’t have action figures yet.
