So You Think You Can Lip-Sync?
It has been a long wait since the end of Season 1 of Flight of the Conchords. I knew that the writer’s strike had put things on hold, but then there was my realization that producing a second season might take a while, mainly because it pretty much involves making an album and a TV show at the same time. I have really missed Bret, Jemaine, and Murray and his gigs. But whenever I needed a dose of the New Zealand accent I could turn to the Season 1 DVDs. But now the wait is almost over. I am happy to report that the Season 2 premiere will air on January 18 on HBO (but if you can’t wait, you can watch it online at HBO.com right now).
In the time leading up the premiere, HBO is accepting entries for a Flight of the Conchords Lip Dub Video Fansterpiece Contest, which involves lip-syncing to the Flight of the Conchord’s song “Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros.” So grab your video camera, channel your inner Milli Vanilli, and just start rapping like the Rhymenocerous you were born to be. I’m sure you’ll find that it comes quite naturally.
Here’s the Flight of the Conchord’s number one fan to explain the rules:
And here are the pros:
I’m not a large water-dwelling mammal
Where did you get that preposterous hypothesis?
Did Steve tell you that, perchance?
