Concerts To Go
It’s almost the biggest travel day of the year, which means there will be lots of people driving, flying and, unfortunately, waiting around. All of these things are a hundred times better with music. My favorite time to listen to either full albums or music I haven’t listened to in a while is when I have four hours to kill on a bus or a train.
If you’re feeling lazy and don’t want to play DJ for the entire trip, there are some great free concert downloads to check out from NPR. They are live concert recordings from “All Songs Considered,” and they can be downloaded online or from the podcast section of iTunes.
The live music is good for trips because most of the sets are over an hour in length, and they are best listened to as a whole concert, not just as an isolated song or two. A few I’ve listened to are The National, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. The concerts have made traveling much more pleasant, and they even seem to make the trips go by faster. So enjoy, and Happy Travels.
